Kantar Worldpanel has unveiled the most chosen Scottish brands in its latest Brand Footprint report.
Irn Bru, Graham’s Family Dairy, Tunnock’s, Bell’s Food Group and Mackie’s of Scotland make up the list’s top five.
The value of food and drink in Scotland for the grocery channel is £10.3bn, the analyst said, up 11% versus pre-pandemic levels.
Looking at Scotland’s top 20 brands overall, Warburtons has retained its crown as both Britain and Scotland’s most chosen brand and is in the list of brands that make up Scotland’s top six for the last five years.
It’s followed by Heinz, Coca-Cola, McVitie’s and Hovis; both Warburtons and Heinz occupied the same first and second positions over the past five years.
“This speaks to the enduring power of our most loved brands and confirms that in a crisis we reach for what we know and trust,” the report said.
Only three Scottish brands made it to the top 20 – Graham’s Family Dairy, Irn Bru, and Tunnock’s.
“For the first time, we have achieved one of the sought-after top five spots,” Stuart Common, Sales and Marketing Director at Mackie’s of Scotland, said.
“To be ahead of major, famous brands is testament to the hard work of the team throughout the pandemic, to keep freezer aisles, supermarket shelves and cafes, restaurants and food outlets stocked.”
