Dunbar-based Thistly Cross Cider is raising a glass after picking up five gongs at the 2023 World Cider Awards.
The cider maker’s Whisky Cask cider, which is aged in single malt Scotch whisky casks for six months, was crowned the UK’s Best Flavoured Cider.
The judging panel commented on its “harmonious fusion of flavours, offering subtle notes of vanilla and honey against an apple base”.
The company’s Scottish Fruits and Elderflower ciders both took Silver in the same category, with Strawberry awarded Bronze.
What’s more, Thistly Cross Original Cider bagged Silver in the UK’s Best Sparkling Cider category.
Thistly Cross founder Peter Stuart commented: “We’re so proud of our range of Scottish ciders, and it’s fantastic to see Whisky Cask singled out in the World Cider Awards. Whisky Cask shows the world what can be done with cider in Scotland, and it is one of our favourites to produce.”
