Perthshire-based Taylors Snacks has announced the exclusive launch of three new crisp flavours in Lidl stores across Scotland and the rest of GB ahead of a wider roll out in other retailers later this year.
The new products – Fiery Pickled Onion Ridge Cut, Chip Shop Curry Sauce Ridge Cut, and Blazin’ BBQ Straight Cut – will be available from 3 April. The 150g sharing bags will be priced at £1.25 as part of Lidl’s limited-offer promotions.
Taylors, which has seen its Scottish brand awareness grow to 73% since launching two years ago, claimed its Fiery Pickled Onion flavour was a world-first for crisps, with its combination of Carolina Reaper peppers alongside traditional pickled onion.
The range expansion comes in response to consumer demand for spicier snack options and British takeaway flavours. It follows research which saw Chip Shop Curry Sauce and Blazin’ BBQ as the flavours most requested by consumers.
James Taylor, managing director at Taylors Snacks, said the listing was a “major milestone” for the business, which is now the second-largest premium crisp brand in Scotland.
He added: “Now Lidl’s nationwide distribution will help introduce our brand – and bold new flavours – to consumers across the UK.”
Paul McQuade, Head of Buying at Lidl GB, commented: “Championing homegrown Scottish producers is at the heart of what we do at Lidl, so it is great to be supporting Taylors Snacks on bringing these exciting new flavours to market. We have enjoyed a strong working relationship since the brand launched and look forward to introducing Taylors’ innovative product range to Lidl customers across the nation.”
