Spey Valley Brewery has teamed up with Craigellachie and Aultmore Distilleries to produce two barrel-aged beers to commemorate the annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, which is taking place from 1 to 5 May.
‘Stand Fast’ – a saying synonymous with Craigellachie – is a double IPA, barrel-aged for nine months in a Craigellachie hogshead cask, creating a blend of honey, vanilla, citrus and malt flavours.
‘Foggie Moss’ is named after the area surrounding Aultmore Distillery. It has been barrel-aged for nine months in an Aultmore cask, creating a fusion of vanilla, aniseed, and key lime pie flavours.
David MacDonald, founder of Spey Valley Brewery commented: “The Spirit of Speyside is a unique opportunity to celebrate the unique provenance of Speyside, and our two special brews make the perfect accompaniment to a dram. Using the finest ingredients, the barrel-ageing process in Aultmore and Craigellachie casks takes nine months and has created two very special beers which are perfect for connoisseurs of whisky and beer.
“We will be tasting these beers at a number of events during Spirit of Speyside, with plans to produce further limited editions. Both beers will be available in limited edition kegs at Beers, Bands and Drams and in selected bars during the festival. Thereafter both beers will be available at selected bars and off licences across Scotland, and online.”
A Craigellachie Distillery spokesperson added: “Our partnership has captured the essence of our Aultmore and Craigellachie whiskies and each cask creates a unique flavour and aroma, which captures the Spirit of Speyside.”
