Spar Scotland is supporting the 2022 Scottish Retail Food & Drink Awards by sponsoring the Small Producer category.
“Small producers are invaluable to local communities,” Colin McLean, CEO of SPAR Scotland said announcing the partnership.
“The benefits of a strong network of local food and drink producers are far reaching. Their investment into a diverse range of products, create local jobs and make it possible for the food and drink industry to thrive. It also means shoppers have access to more options to choose from, all produced close to home.”
The Small Producer awards seek to recognise and reward the best of the many fantastic food and drink products created in Scotland by producers with turnover of £1m or less.
Last year, six Scottish products were recognized with a Scottish Retail Food and Drink Platinum award, including:
- Small Producer – Thule Ventus, Salt Cod Pate from Shetland Islands
- Small Producer – Lunun Gin, Lunun Gin from Fife
- Large Producer – Mackie’s of Scotland, Traditional Dairy Ice Cream from Aberdeenshire
- Large Producer – GM Spirits, Edinburgh Rum
- Own Label – Aldi, Specially Selected Steak & Ale Pie
- Own Label – Aldi, 12 Year Old Speyside Scotch Whisky
Helen Lyons, Co-founder of the Scottish Retail Food & Drinks Awards, added: “We are thrilled to have Spar Scotland on board again with us this year and sponsoring the Small Producer category.
“Spar Scotland is the leading convenience retailing group in Scotland and we know how passionate they are about supporting local producers. It is great their encouragement in getting more local producers onto more store shelves.
“This year we are looking to bring even more producers from the Scottish food and drink community together and extend their opportunity to get listings in more retail outlets around Scotland.”
