A Scottish company has secured a national listing in Tesco to help bring functional mushrooms to the mainstream.

Love Mushrooms has launched in more than 250 stores with its range of tinctures and capsules.

Each product in the range is available at £9.90 and are on a permanent ‘3 for 2’ Tesco Clubcard promotion.

The Love Mushrooms range of capsules includes Reishi, Cordyceps and Lion’s Mane. There is also a Lion’s Mane tincture and a Cordyceps tincture. All are certified organic and suitable for vegans and, depending on the supplement, may enhance memory, sleep or performance.

Love Mushrooms is the brainchild of long-term friends Erik Lang and Smith Feeney who have their own organic mushroom farm and laboratory in Forres in Moray.

Instead of alcohol extraction, the company uses an ultrasonic assisted extraction technique, which it says is the most efficient extraction method and preserves the natural compounds to ensure high purity and stronger extracts. The tinctures are also said to be the only British ones that are alcohol free , which “ensures a great taste”.

Erik Lang commented: “Our dream is to make the highest quality functional mushroom tinctures and capsules available to people at a price that isn’t a barrier, instead of them being seen as a luxury product.

“We’re excited to have our first national listing in Tesco and to be on a permanent Clubcard deal.”

Smith Feeney added: “We’re both fascinated by the benefits of mushrooms and how closely they’re connected to our wellbeing. Research has shown that humans share 50% of our DNA with mushrooms.”
