Speyside distillery The Glen Grant has unveiled one of its rarest whiskies yet with the introduction of the Splendours Collection – a new series showcasing the distillery’s most precious casks.
The collection of highly limited releases, which will be unveiled over the coming years, debuts with a 65-Year-Old single malt laid down in 1958.
Distilled in slender coal-fired pot stills that define The Glen Grant’s signature style, the 65-Year-Old was then transferred into a single French oak butt and left to mature until earlier this year. On the nose, it offers sweet aromas of syrupy treacle mixed with the juiciness of ripe blackberries and delicate whispers of sandalwood. On the palate, bursts of orange and ripe black cherries unfold, layered with fruit cake and sticky dates. The finish balances delicate citrus, light spice, and oak, with a subtle hint of smoke.
The whisky is presented in 151 handcrafted decanters designed by John Galvin and Glasstorm, with seven available for purchase in the UK. Each is designed as a Mobius strip seed pod—a continuous, flowing loop symbolising the timelessness of nature.
Greig Stables, master distiller at The Glen Grant, commented: “The true scarcity of this spirit at 65 years old is testament to the unwavering approach to whisky making and visionary innovation which has always defined The Glen Grant.
“This whisky captures a lifetime of flavour and character from its journey in a single French oak butt. This time has created a magnificent single malt, which despite its lengthy union in oak, retains the distinct and singular character of The Glen Grant.”
The Glen Grant 65-Year-Old will be available from selected UK retailers in the UK from June 2025, priced at an RSP of £39,000 per decanter.
