Aldi Scotland’s Carnegie Brie Cheese has been crowned as one of the best cheeses in the UK at the British Cheese Awards 2024.
The Specially Selected product took home Gold in the ‘fresh, soft white and semi-soft’ retailer category at the event, which is one of the premier exhibitions and competitions for cheese producers and suppliers in the UK.
The Carnegie Brie is available in 250g packs for £2.29. It is produced exclusively for Aldi by Highland Fine Cheeses.
The Tain-based family business is a multiple SRFDA winner with its humorously titled cheeses. Blue Murder and Fat Cow both won Gold awards in 2023, with Minger and Strathdon Blue bagging Bronze the same year.
Carnegie Brie wasn’t Aldi’s only success at the British Cheese Awards; the supermarket picked up a Silver for its Specially Selected Aged Cheddar and a Bronze for its Emporium British Mature Cheddar.
Graham Nicolson, group buying director at Aldi Scotland, said: “This is a testament to the relationship we have with our suppliers in the development of our own-label produce, and we’re thrilled to take home three awards at such a prestigious event to highlight the fantastic larder available in Scotland.
“We are particularly pleased to see the success of our Scottish products at a UK-wide event, demonstrating the fantastic quality products at affordable prices available on our shelves.”
