Albert Bartlett has unveiled a game-changing innovation in the world of produce: square potatoes.
After years of research, the company has launched a potato that stacks neatly on supermarket shelves, fits perfectly in fridges and slices into chips with total efficiency.
The groundbreaking development promises to revolutionise the way people peel, chop, and cook their potatoes, eliminating the frustrating wobble of traditional spuds.
“We’ve been working on this for a long time,” said Paddy Graham-Jones, Chief Potato Officer at Albert Bartlett. “Our aim was to create a potato that is both practical and has a pleasing geometry.”
Every year, the innovation team at Albert Bartlett develop new types of potatoes and recipes for their range. While the team claims to have already developed the “tastiest potatoes,” they’re now thinking outside the box.
“As a company, we’re always trying to move forward. How can we bring something new to the table? After years of trial and error, we think we have something really exciting,” added Thomas McInally, Cubic Tuber Specialist.
“There are so many benefits to square potatoes, it’s a wonder we didn’t think of them before. They’re easy to prep and easy to cut into perfect chips.”
Dubbed ‘Bartlett Blocks,’ the cube-shaped spuds are designed for optimal efficiency; no more runaway potatoes, uneven chopping, or awkward storage. Early taste-testers report they are still 100% delicious – just much easier to stack.
“I cannot wait to get this on the menu. We’ve got square chips for tea tonight!” commented Stevie McLaughlin of Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, while Michel Roux Jr added, “Now this, is exciting.”
Given the date of publication, 1 April, we suggest serving the square potatoes with a large pinch of salt.
