An Edinburgh brewery has paid tribute to an iconic Scottish drink, launching a four-part series of Irn-Bru-inspired sour beers.

Over the last four years, Vault City has attempted to expel January blues with its take on Scotland’s other national drink.

This year will see a total of four Iron Brew sours introduced, including a limited-edition can design of the 4.8% ABV Iron Brew sour.

Not for the fainthearted, the imperial Iron Brew Export Strength arrives with a stonking 8.4% ABV – and it comes in the iconic glass bottles of yesteryear.

Iron Blue, a 6.3% bubble-gum brew that turns drinkers’ tongues blue, is also sold in glass bottles, while a 5% Raspberry Ripple twist in a 440ml can targets the more sweet-toothed consumer.

The drinks can all be bought individually, or as part of a limited-edition gift pack for £22.50.

The beers will launch in over 100 bars and bottle shops and are also available online from Vault City.
