Ben Lomond Gin, the official gin of The Open, has unveiled a limited-edition craft gin to mark The 152nd Open at Royal Troon this summer (14 to 21 July).
The Open 2024 Special Edition (43% ABV) has been released in homage to the prestigious golf tournament and includes native botanicals hand-picked directly from Royal Troon.
It is exclusively available as a limited-edition souvenir set which includes a 70cl bottle of gin and two Ben Lomond Gin branded glasses, retailing for £45.
The brand was named the first Official Gin of the Open in 2023, releasing a limited edition to celebrate that year’s tournament at Royal Liverpool.
This year, The Open 2024 Special Edition’s base is centred around the core Ben Lomond London Dry, utilising six of its 11 botanicals to create a foundation that carries the gin’s signature taste. This has been elevated with a range of botanicals from Royal Troon itself: tansy herb, elderberries and blackberry leaves.
This natural bouquet from botanicals native to the course, complements the base pine and light spice notes of core Ben Lomond, enhancing the juniper presence with notes of zesty citrus and parma violets, leaving a peppery and floral finish.
John Grieveson, Chief Marketing Officer of Ben Lomond Gin owner Loch Lomond Group, said: “Our Open 2024 Special Edition reflects Ben Lomond Gin’s adventurous spirit and deep connection to the natural beauty of Scotland, with a unique blend of botanicals native to the Troon area.
“Each bottle is a tribute to the rugged landscapes that inspire us, offering gin enthusiasts and golf fans alike a unique taste of the wild and wonderful essence of Troon.”
