Having a ball: finding the inflatable doubled Georgina's charity total

Aldi Scotland’s Supermarket Sweep challenge recently returned to Aberdeen, and one lucky winner raised £1251.74 for a foodbank of her choosing, while picking up £625.87-worth of shopping for herself.

Supermarket Sweep is inspired by the legendary gameshow of the same name and lucky shopper Georgina Griffiths, who was chosen as the winner of a competition, took part in a five-minute trolley dash for charity on Sunday 28 April.

As well as taking home a trolley full of goodies, Georgina successfully found a hidden beach ball in store, meaning Aldi Scotland doubled the total value of her haul and donated the lump sum to her nominated charity, Cfine.

Georgina said: “Thank you to Aldi for choosing me. The sweep was an amazing experience and was so much fun, and the team at the Boulevard Retail Park store were fantastic. I am so happy I managed to raise so much for Cfine who do so much for the community of Aberdeen.”

Cfine is an Aberdeen-based distributor of surplus and donated food. Its marketing and PR officer Sarah Miller said Georgina’s generosity showed how individuals can really help make a difference. “Her donation will greatly aid our efforts in improving health, tackling poverty, and building resilience for those in need in Aberdeen. We extend our appreciation to Aldi for their commitment to initiatives benefiting local charities like ours.”

Graham Nicolson, Regional Managing Director for Aldi Scotland, added: “We know that the Aldi Supermarket Sweep is a firm favourite with shoppers across the country, so we were delighted to bring it back for another year. Congratulations to Georgina who managed to raise an incredible £1251.74 for Cfine and snap up a whole load of Aldi treats for herself.”
