We are delighted to announce that the online entry portal for the Scottish Retail Food & Drink Awards 2020 is now officially live!
Officially launched last week at Scotland’s Speciality Food Show at the SEC in Glasgow, the new Awards are a unique new celebration of the very best food and drink available in Scottish retail outlets. The Awards have been created to help get more of Scotland’s fantastic quality food and drink onto more shelves in Scotland.
Awards Director Helen Lyons commented: “Our aim is to harness the huge growth in consumer interest in food provenance over recent years by bringing producers and retailers closer together with the ultimate aim of making outstanding Scottish products more easily available to a much wider audience in Scotland.
“We all know that Scotland has some of the best food and drink producers on earth and we know that more and more consumers are interested in buying home-grown products. From artisan, handmade small-batch products to increasingly high quality convenience chain and supermarket own label products, The Scottish Retail Food & Drink Awards will respond to that increasing consumer demand and will be to the benefit of everyone involved from producers and suppliers to wholesalers, retailers and, ultimately, to consumers themselves.”
Fellow Director Antony Begley added: “Bespoke research carried out in November on our behalf by our research partner 56 Degree Insight revealed that consumers are 44% more likely to choose products with a quality award or marque. In other words, winning quality awards grows sales. It can also help producers secure listings in stores of all sizes, from small delis or farm shoppers to supermarkets and discounters.”
Entries will be welcomed from all companies that produce and market products in Scotland for the Scottish retail marketplace, from discounters to supermarkets, from convenience stores to farm shops and everyone in between.
