The EQ Food and Drink Pavilion, sponsored by EQ Chartered Accountants, will once again host some of Aberdeenshire’s finest food and drink producers at the forthcoming Turriff Show.
Scotland’s largest two-day agricultural event takes place on Sunday 30 and Monday 31 July 2023, and this year the pavilion has been extended to welcome more than 40 exhibitors showcasing local meats, chutneys, fruit and veg, home bakes, ice cream, sweets, honey, jams, spirits, cider, and cocktails.
The rollcall includes Peterhead’s rora dairy, which won gold at this year’s SRFDA awards for its Traditional Greek Style yogurt.
Attendees will also be able to savour the likes of Wark Farm pies, bacon from Ingrams, granola from Bakery Lane and Ogilvy spirits.
The pavilion also welcomes Portsoy Ice Cream once again. The shop’s owner, Alex Murray, commented: “I am looking forward to this year after such fun in 2022. It is always so wonderful to meet faces from all walks of life who come together to show an interest in today’s agriculture.”
Portsoy Ice Cream is a family-run business, well known for its wide variety of ice creams, sauces and other treats. With over 100 ice cream flavours, Alex strives to source many of his ingredients from local suppliers, with fruit from Barra berries and whisky from Glenglassaugh distillery.
There will be prizes on offer, including a draw for a Broil King BBQ, available to everyone making a purchase from a food and drink stall in the EQ Food and Drink Pavilion.
The QMS cookery theatre returns with food expert and chef, Catriona Frankitti, who will be sharing stories and recipes, whilst cooking up meals using local produce.
The pavilion will also host ‘The Kilted Chef’, Craig Wilson of Eat on the Green, an ambassador for Scottish food and drink, who will demonstrate his cooking. It will also be visited on both days by the north-east’s fish expert and star of BBC Scotland’s Trawlermen, Jimmy Buchan. As well as cooking, he will spread the word about top quality local fish.
Local butchers will be giving butchery demonstrations and showing why beef and lamb from the north-east really is special.
Visitors can also enjoy homemade tray bakes, pancakes and more, from Hoodles coffee shop, located within the pavilion.
