Edinburgh-based Summerhall Distillery, producer of Pickering’s Gin, has unveiled its first foray into whisky with The Broody Hen Blended Scotch Whisky.
Matured in specially selected casks, The Broody Hen boasts honey and butterscotch notes on the nose, along with caramel, vanilla and honey elements on the palate.
The distiller reportedly plans to release a range of whiskies under The Broody Hen label, including a 10-year-old single malt at the end of 2022.
Bottling capacity is also expected to double by early 2023 as the firm moves most of its whisky operations to a bigger warehouse facility, according to reports.
