Balmoral has launched a limited-release Platinum Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The new whisky was distilled at Royal Lochnagar; Balmoral commissioned bespoke cases to present the first two bottles, standing on plinths of Caledonian pine from the Balmoral Estate, as gifts to Her Majesty and HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay.

To coincide with the start of the official Platinum Jubilee celebrations on the Balmoral Estate and across the nation, a further 222 individually numbered bottles, bearing an engraved, gold Balmoral crest, went on sale at midday on Thursday 2nd June, available exclusively in the Balmoral gift shop and online, priced £500 and limited to one per customer.
A bottle will also be retained in the Royal Lochnagar archive.
This commemorative whisky, distilled in 2000, has been double matured, then married in an oak puncheon since 2012.
The nose boasts top notes of butterscotch, toffee and mint cake followed by hints of raisin, sultana and stem ginger. On the palate it has smooth texture with a malty sweetness and spice notes.
Sean Phillips, Distillery Manager at Royal Lochnagar, said: “It was a source of great pride for everyone associated with Royal Lochnagar when we were granted a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty The Queen.
“We are honoured to be part of our neighbour Balmoral’s celebration of Her Majesty’s extraordinary 70-year reign with this special bottling.”
