With the entry deadline now passed and entries up more than 30% on last year, it’s now time for judging to begin for the Scottish Retail Food & Drink Awards 2022 (SRFDA).
This weekend will see packs being sent to over 50 experienced and expert judges who will spend the next few weeks getting up close and personal with hundreds of fantastic Scottish food and drink products across dozens of different product categories.
Following hugely positive feedback from last year’s judging, we have decided to retain the ‘home judging’ model which allows our judges to experience the products exactly as the end-consumer would.
Having tasted and tried all products, each judging panel will then convene on a video call to decide which products will earn the right to carry Gold, Silver, Bronze and Shortlisted logos on-pack and on their communications materials. Research commissioned by SRFDA at the end of last year and carried out by Edinburgh-based research and insight specialists 56 degree Insight revealed that 39% of consumers would be “more likely to choose products with a quality marque or award”.
Every entrant will have their product carefully judged and every entrant will received detailed feedback to help them continue to develop their product in the future.
SRFDA Director Antony Begley said: “Judging time is hugely exciting for all of our judges and while it’s an intense few weeks, it’s immensely rewarding and enjoyable.
“Tasting and sampling some of the best Scottish food and drink products out there is a genuine privilege – and we hope that we will once again help to get more of Scotland’s outstanding products onto more retail shelves.”
